Hi I'm Bailongyun
My name is Bai Longyun, and I am an artist from China. From 1992 to 1997, I studied sculpture for five years at the Department of Sculpture of Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts in Shenyang, China. Between 1998 and 2003, I continued my artistic exploration in Japan, conducting research into abstract art within the Sculpture Research Program at Yokohama National University. In 1999, I came to Chongqing, where I chose to live and established my studio. This place has since become the foundation of my artistic practice, and the majority of the works I have presented to the public were created here. Throughout my artistic journey, I have remained deeply concerned with the individual’s encounter with the world — the fragile yet persistent existence of human beings as they confront uncertainty, isolation, limitation, and the struggles embedded within life itself. My work seeks to reveal the silent forces that shape our existence, and to explore the tension between vulnerability and resilience. Through sculpture, installation, image, and moving image, I attempt to give form to these invisible states of being: the moments of struggle, resistance, and searching that occur within the human experience. For me, an artwork is not a conclusion, nor is it an attempt to offer definitive answers. Rather, it creates a space of possibility — a place where both the artist and the viewer may encounter themselves, break through the boundaries of suppression, and move toward a moment of freedom.
